Annual steam gala 2021
With trains running every 40 minutes and locomotive changes taking place at Barmouth Ferry throughout the day, a very enjoyable day was had at the Fairbourne Railway's 2021 Gala. The 12 1/4inch gauge saw a rare visiting steam locomotive in the form of No. 4 'Christopher' from the Littlehampton Miniature Railway (built by Exmoor Steam Railway), The short stretch of 15 inch gauge line had visiting engines from Rhyl Miniature Railway and Windmill Farm Railway near Burscough.

Celebrating the 100 years of steam on the Fairbourne Railway. Formerly a 15inch gauge steam line, in 1986 the line was regained to 12.25inches and new locomotives arrived. Three of these steam locomotives where is use over the weekend on an intensive timetable. A small length of 15inch gauge line has been relaid over recent years and to celebrate 100 years of steam, three 15 inch gauge locomotives returned to the line. In service with Count Louis and Katie. King George (built new for the Fairbourne in 1916) was the third 15inch gauge visitor, but only on static display as her overhaul wasn't completed in time.
