Transport for Wales ran a steam special to celebrate the reopening of the Conwy Valley Line. LMS 8F 48151 and Jubilee 45690 Leander hauled the special to Blaenau Ffestiniog. On the Ffestiniog, L&B recreation 2-6-2T 190 Lyd ran a special for charter passengers, while service trains were handled by Linda & Taliesin and Merddin Emrys.

At Blaenau Ffestiniog, De Winton Chanoler and Quarry Hunslet Hugh Napier offered footplate rides. In the evening the two little engines returned with a pair of brake van and Moelwyn to Minffordd and Boston Lodge.
