HUNSLET 125

Sunday 16th September 2018

Centered around Minffordd yard hosting a shunt-athon, driver for a fiver and miniature steam attractions, 19 Hunslet steam locomotives took centre stage, with a 20th (Russell) steaming across at the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway.

 

The impressive locomotive line up featured Port class 'Gwynedd' and 'Winifred', Alice class 'Velinheli', ' Cloister', 'George B', 'Holy War', Alice' 'Maid Marion'', 'Irish Mail', Large Quarry class 'Hugh Napier', Small Quarry class 'Margaret', Penrhyn main line locomotives 'Blanche' and 'Linda', medium sized quarry locomotive 'Lilla', Tramroad type 'Jerry M', Pen-yr-Orsedd Quarry 'Britomart', Chaka's Kraal No. 6 and the last Hunslet steam locomotive made in Leeds 'Trangkil No. 4'. 2005 built 'Statfold', built by the present day Hunslet Steam Company completed the line up of Hunslet's.

 

The line up was completed by Double Fairlie's 'David Lloyd George' and 'Merddin Emrys', England 'Prince' Small Fairlie 'Taliesin, George England 'Prince', L&B 'Lyd" and a pair of Beyer Garratt NGG16s.
