2016 - Return to steam
Returning to traffic in January 2016, following overhaul by Riley & Son Engineer, the locomotive carried a black livery for running in turns on the East Lancashire Railway and on the main line, before being repainted in BR Green ahead of her official launch on the East Coast Main Line out of Kings Cross and a period of running on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Captured at Hoghton Bottoms, we see Flying Scotsman hauling The Flying Scotsman Christmas Dalesman from Manchester Victoria to Carlisle and return.
Test run

Captured at Clapham and Hellfield station, we see Flying Scotsman on a test run with John Cameron's support coach.
