51 years on since British Railways ran their farewell to steam special, a trio of industrial tank engines were flying the flag for steam at Peak Rail in Derbyshire. Kitson Lambton Tank No.29 (Courtesy of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway), Beyer Peacock 1827 of 1878 (Courtesy of the Foxfield Railway) and home based Vulcan Foundry Austerity No.72, were joined by Class 44 D8 “Penyghent”.

Peak Rail Prairie

5th March 2022

A 30742 Charter with Pete Waterman's newly overhauled Great Western Small Prairie 5553, at Peak Rail. The steam locomotive has been outshopped in unlined BR Black and featured on a goods set in the morning, with 3 maroon Mark 1s in the afternoon. We worked out of Rowsley South towards Darley Dale and into the section towards Matlock, during a mainly cloudy day, with some nice breaks in the cloud giving some sunny run pasts on the passenger set in the afternoon.
