L&Y Carriage test run

22nd February 2022

A test run for L&Y 1474 on the East Lancashire Railway, following contracted work, hauled by Class 14 D9531 Ernest.

24th February 2022

LMS 3F Jinty 47298 on a further test run, being used to collect wagons from Rawtenstall and Ramsbottom. This included a tanker from the Rawtenstall bay headshunt to be refilled with water, as the water tower is currently out of use at Rawtenstal.

"Blow the doors off PRESTON SHED"

A 3P20 Parcels Group Night Shoot held at Baron Street sheds. This event featuring visiting 46100 Royal Scot, fresh from overhaul Jinty 47298, Class 24 D5054 and L&Y pairing of 51456 (752) and 52322. The event featured the wooden shed doors, which were replaced by roller shutters after the events.

Visiting GWR 1501 is seen at Ramsbottom sidings an private footplate experience turn. The locomotive was visiting for an extended period around the Spring Steam Gala.

Pug Test Run

26th May 2022

L&Y Pug Number 19 is seen on a short freight train from Bury to Ramsbottom, a test run after its recent restoration. 34092 City of Wells is seen departing on a combined Dinning/Service train.

COAL TANK Test Run

15th June 2022

LNWR Coal Tank 1054, fresh from overhaul by the Bahamas Locomotive Society at Ingrow West, is seen on a test run on the ELR. Initially with a Queen Mary brake van to Heywood and then double heading on the 3pm to Rawtenstall.

Jinty at Bolton Street

16th June 2022

Jinty 47298 on a days test runs, seen in this video arriving back on the 1pm service into Bury Bolton Street (with 5643), before shunting the dining set off the service train into platform 2.

PUG & 752 SHUNT CHARTER

17TH June 2022

Newly restored L&Y Pug Number 19 and Barton Wright 0-6-0ST 752 featuring in a pre-gala 3P20 photo charter at Baron Street.

LYR/LNWR Merger centenary gala

18th June 2022

Celebrating 100 years since the Lancashire & Yorkshire and London & North Western Railways merged, a year ahead of grouping, 4 locomotives were brought together in pre-grouping liveries. L&Y Pug 19, 0-6-0ST 752 and 0-6-0 1300, along with LNWR Coal Tank 1054.

Sentinel 'Ann' is seen pottering around Bury on crew familiarisation turns on a wet Friday in September. GWR 5643 is then seen on the days Green Timetable services heading north from Bury and accelerating away from Irwell Vale.

Pacer 144009 is captured approaching Townsend Fold with the 4pm Bury Bolton Street to Rawtenstall service on Saturday 17th September 2022, near the close of the East Lancashire Railway's Autumn Diesel Gala.

PUGS PHOTO CHARTER

21st October 2022

A 3P20 Photo Charters event at Bury with Pug 19, appearing as former Goole Docks BR 51241 and Keighley & Worth Valley Railway pioneer 51218. 51218 has been out of steam for the past decade, but was used in posed positions. The day started with the Pugs and a short freight set around Bury South, on the through siding and the Heywood link, before moving to Bury North and Castlecroft yard (home of the Bury Transport Museum) for more run pasts and a night shoot. At the end of the charter we see the wagons being shunted away prior to the Pugs returning to Baron Street. The evenings Dining with Distinction 'Red Rose Diner' is seen passing hauled by BR Standard 4MT 80097.

SAnta Specials

11th December 2022

Visiting Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Class 25 'Ironclad' 52044 (accompanied by a Class 33) and nearer the end of boiler ticket 34092 City of Wells (accompanied by a Class 45) are seen at snow covered Ramsbottom and Irwell Vale on Santa Special duties. The trains run steam hauled with the diesel locomotive assisting from Bury to Rawtenstall, with the diesel hauling the train back down to Bury Bolton Street.

Festive Diners

7th & 15th December 2022

Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 0-6-0 52044 & 52322 are captured hauling the East Lancashire Railway Festive Dining Trains on Wednesday 7th and 15th December 2022. The Ironclad is seen steaming out of Bury at the quarter mile siding, while the A Class is seen at Little Burrs in a pair of shots.
