Double Austrian locos

A David Williams photographic charter on the WLLR. With the current loan agreement of Krauss & Company ‘U’ Class No.2 Zillertal from the Zillertalbahn in Austria coming to an end, the opportunity was taken for a photo charter with a pair of Austrian steam locomotives, with recently overhauled Societe Franco-Belge built 0-8-0T No.699. Appropriate stock was paired with the locomotives in the form of Zillertalbahn coaches, which arrived on the line in the 1970s.

Built by Beyer Peacock & Co. Ltd. at the Gorton Foundry in 1902, Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway No. 1 The Earl (GWR 822) was featured on a train of three replica Pickering carriages (built at Boston Lodge) and a couple of goods wagons on the Bob Branch / David Williams organised ‘Heaven Again’ photographic charter.
The Earl appeared in GWR livery, having in its previous ticket appeared in BR black, the locomotive most recent overhaul was completed on the Vale of Rheidol Railway, which was the previous stop on the multi railway photo charter.
2019 Steam Gala

Visiting locomotive Zillertalbahn U-class 0-6-2T locomotive, No. 2 ‘Zillertal’ made her public WLLR debut during the 2019 Steam Gala. She was joined by Countess and Joan on an intensive timetable, with the replica Pickering carriages and goods train workings.

Action from the Sunday of the WLLR's 2018 Steam Gala featuring visiting locomotive Bagnall 0-6-2T 'Superb' from Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway, hauling both passenger and goods trains and home fleet locomotives 'The Earl', 'Countess' and 'Joan' on a mix of freight, passenger and mixed trains.
