HALF TERM TRAINS

Prince and Rufford Hall haul Half Term passenger services, while Hunslet 'Rosie' was on running in turns.

Winter Gala

Six locomotives in operation, with a two train passenger timetable, plus a mixture of goods trains.

​

No. 6 Rosie was launched into traffic.

TALIESIN'S FIRST RUn

Saturday 6th March 2021

​

Green timetable, with Rufford Hall on the first train before Prince took over for the rest of the day. At the end of the days services Taliesin made its first moves, taking some light engine journeys, before hauling a train of bug boxes.

Easter eggspress

Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th April 2021

On the Saturday, The Easter Eggspress service ran, alongside a standard passenger service, 'The Quarryman', a Ffestiniog Vintage Train and goods train with traction engine load. On the Sunday, a more conservative timetable was ran with just the Easter Eggspress and an additional service train.

Anniversary day

Celebrating the first year of the railway, Rosie hauled the special Anniversary Train, joined in service with Midlander on a Beer Train and Rufford Hall on additional trains.

Talyllyn Railway day

As the Talyllyn celebrates its Founders Day and 70 Years since the First Public Passenger Trains in Preservation, the S&WLR ran a series of special trains to commemorate the occasion. Talyllyn Railway No. 6 Midlander was in action on a goods train, while Rufford Hall hauled the Talyllyn passenger set and Hunslet No. 6 Rosie hauled a special train with a miniature 'Skarloey' from the local model engineers club.

An intensive timetable with all available locomotives in service on a mix of passenger and freight trains. The day saw the launch of Taliesin and Van 2.

Santa Specials

Friday 24th December 2021

​

A busy day of festive specials. Prince was in use on the Santa Specials which ran from Sefton Meadows to Porthmelling via Aughtonside. Rufford Hall brought in Santa's Goods Train from Aughtonside to Porthmelling. Prince would run round, returning to Sefton Meadows via Aughtonside.

 

Rosie was in use on Santa's Shuttle, a shorter festive offering from Sefton Meadows to Porthmelling, without a trip to Aughtonside.

 

The final service of the day was the Victorian Christmas Special, with the allocated locomotive being Prince on the Ffestiniog Victorian Set.
